Abstract

Carbohydrates are polyhydroxy compounds(1) that are either aldehyde or ketones containing Carbon,Hydrogen and oxygen. They are important to understand as there are large no. of carbohydrates varying from small sugar molecule i.e simple glucose to plymers such as glycogen, cellulose. Qualitative analysis of carbohydrates refers to finding out which specific sugar is present in the unknown solution.
