Abstract

Inula montana medicinal, and ornamental plant, is mainly cultivated in Algeria .in this work, the essential oils were extracted using hydrodistillation in Clevenger apparatus and analyzed by GC-MS to determine their composition. The principal compounds found in essential oil were p-Cimene (25.5%) and Limonene (21.23%) and were trans-?-Bergamotene (10.65%) .The antimicrobial activity was evaluated against 5 bacteria using the agar disc diffusion method and the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) were determined. Essential oils Derived from Inula montana could be a potential source of antimicrobial agents for the pharmaceutical and, natural food industry.
