Abstract

Thiazolidine-2, 4-dione (TZD) and its derivatives are important heterocyclic compound and exhibit wide range of pharmacological properties and biological activities. Therefore, Synthetic chemists are interested in the development of green, rapid and efficient synthesis of thiazolidinedione derivatives. This review focuses on the recent development in the synthesis of 5-arylidene-2, 4-thiazolidinedione derivatives. Recently, Several methods that have been developed for the synthesis of 5-arylidene-2, 4-thiazolidinedione derivatives. The current review article describes the literature report of recent and representative synthetic methods that are used for the synthesis 5-arylidene-2, 4-thiazolidinedione derivatives.
